Migrants are returning to the northern French town of Calais just months after its infamous camp was demolished and thousands of residents moved elsewhere. The new arrivals are being encouraged to come by charities offering them food and sleeping bags, causing consternation among the town’s residents. Hundreds of people are now sleeping rough in the countryside around the town, hoping to travel across the English Channel to the UK, with more arriving each week. 18-year-old Eritrean Gaitom Hatas says they could not stay there if it were not for the charities. “We came from Libya on a boat to Italy in February, then got a bus via Paris to Calais. Every day and night we try to get to England,” he said. “I have relatives in Liverpool and they expect I will arrive there soon.” “We couldn’t stay here without help,” Gaitom added. “The police try to throw us out, so we hide most of the time. We use text messages to arrange a time and place to meet the charity people for our food.” Christine Salome, head of the L’Auberge des Migrants charity, said: “I think numbers in Calais have now reached 400 but more arrive all the time. “Many are sleeping rough not far from the former Jungle. We give out a lot of sleeping bags. We take their used ones back after two or three nights because they are so damp and dirty. We wash them and hand them fresh ones.” The claims come just days after the nearby Grande-Synthe migrant camp was burned to the ground in a turf war between people smuggling gangs. Around 600 of the camp’s residents are still missing, with many in Calais fearing they will join those gathered in the Calais area. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4413134/Migrants-lured-Calais-charities.html?ito=social-facebookIt's worth remembering that this is only a small part of the NGO problem.... Human traffickers contact the Italian coast guard in advance to receive support and to pick up their dubious cargo. NGO ships are directed to the “rescue spot” even as those to be rescued are still in Libya. The 15 ships that we observed are owned or leased by NGOs have regularly been seen to leave their Italian ports, head south, stop short of reaching the Libyan coast, pick up their human cargo, and take course back 260 miles to Italy even though the port of Zarzis in Tunis is just 60 miles away from the rescue spot. gefira.org/en/2016/12/04/ngos-are-smuggling-immigrants-into-europe-on-an-industrial-scale/Charity and aid are one thing, but the NGOs have taken it upon themselves to be an open borders taxi service - it's a part of their ideology.

Charity and aid are one thing, but the NGOs have taken it upon themselves to be an open borders taxi service - it's a part of their ideology. That's too bad. Are they in Calais because they think it's the "place to be", or to find a ride across the channel?

Community organizations – Decrease in Memberships?
Part of what comprises a community, gives it identity and vitality is its citizen commitment to organizations. Citizen involvement with churches and synagogues; involvement in paternal organizations such as the Masons, Knights of Columbus, Elks, Eagles, Lions, various Veteran organizations; support of youth organizations, such as 4-H, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Boys and Girls Clubs; and with special interest organizations, such as historical societies, flower clubs, book reading clubs; are all striving for new members. It seems however, that during the last several years memberships in these groups have dropped as community populations have increased.
When these groups address the challenge of decreasing memberships many reasons are suggested and always among these is the Spector of changing interests. But these groups, while addressing their primary interest also served the community in many ways filling local needs. Those needs still exist, but the numbers of those willing to volunteer seem to be decreasing. At the same time, it doesn’t seem to be from lack of awareness of these community needs, but rather a decreasing interest to be directly involved. There seems to be a change in the method of communication from face to face to working entirely on the internet. This does little to support volunteerism or even joining groups.
What I’m wondering is, do others see the same situation, or do they see something quite different.

I see the same thing a decrease in willingness to be involved mainly because its beginging to be seen for what it is...and people no longer wish to be part of the con and manipulation they have become much more aware of the realities .. the realities being very different than the right on messages I am just one person but I no longer give any support to any organisations involved in any type or aid or financial support when it comes to either migrants or immigrants
you can only fool people for so long before they realise just how much of a con is going on and then stop their support the immigrants/mirgrants/governments/criminal gangs etc etc have all shot them selves in the foot big time by their deeds they are known.... time the governments of the countries where these people come from actually faced up to their responsibilities..instead of just holding hands out for more and more monies
