I might agree, Prashna, but only if the events to be predicted were of an unmanipulable nature. Obviously not the stock market, horse racing, or cricket, then. I know — let the Psychic choose the events, which must be beyond their control, and if we agree to them, it's a deal. Must be precise. One obvious advantage is that they can do the predicting thing at their leisure before they suggest them, just as long as the events are still in the future and checkable. One thing, though. Did Lin or Mike ever claim they had psychic powers? LL Reply #75 this thread She may not have specified the exact nature of the personal experience. And I cannot spare the time to go over all her posts. Sorry! Incidentally, I always thought that the Stock market is as unpredictable as any. And if the assets in the portfolio were large enough, say £100M upwards, and quoted in the LSE, they should not be easy to manipulate. Regards. Prashna

There is, Talisman a simple enough test. Let's assume that LL is truly psychic and can predict the future through dreams. Start off with a kitty of £10,000 say, made up half by LL and the rest by a consortium. LL is provided with a subscription to the Investor's chronicle and the FT for the period. She is free to read the FT and IC all day every day and dream as much as she likes. But based on the dreams she has to invest the total amount within the first 3 weeks. At the end of the 10 weeks the entire portfolio is liquidated. The consortium gets their £5,000 back with due interest (@ BoE base rate + a suitable margin). LL takes the rest. That would be conclusive proof as well as a money spinner for LL.Don't you think? Regards. Prashna I once dreamed that I won the lottery. I didn't actually win the lottery, that's proof enough for me I once dreamed that I won £400 on the lottery. I bought a ticket and that weekend I won £400. Is that proof enough for you?

I once won £8,494,385.17 on the EuroMillions. Bought a pack of Tarot cards, a magnetic bracelet, a bag of New Age crystals, and a Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster teeshirt, and gave the rest to the local football team (they put it down as 10% deposit on a new player). Didn't dream about it beforehand though. I guess I'm not one of the chosen ones.

For what it's worth one of my mottoes is 'chachimos' which means 'truth' in Romani. I might say stuff you don't agree with; I might say stuff you don't like;' but I don't tell porkies! Anyhow, like they say in German, 'einmal ist keinmal.' Basically it wouldn't matter a damn what kind of evidence or proof I put forward because the will NOT to believe is just as strong as the will to believe. Jesus could come back tomorrow and perform a stack of miracles and you'd still be saying he was a con artist and that it was all done by smoke and mirrors.

I once dreamed that I won the lottery. I didn't actually win the lottery, that's proof enough for me I dreamed I could hear my alarm clock going off and that I needed to wake up......and I did...........so is that proof? No, that's no proof Sadie. Flamingos do that all the time.

Am I expected to tell you every single incident of my life? Good grief! Well, er, no. What made you think you might be? Why should anyone doubt your word? Anything else of such major relevance to the thread topic that you'd like to bring up? That's alright, then. Let's have them in Inuit as well. Why not? After all, once is not at all. Jesus come back, you say? Surely that's supposed to be about 40 days in the future, at the end of Lent, isn't it? I can't wait.

I am currently working on a series of articles about the dubious side of science which I shall begin posting in the next few days. How's the work going? Have you been inspired by James Randi?

Look, Mike isn't very well right now so please stop having a go at him. I can't imagine how anyone could be inspired by James Randi. Or, if it comes to that, feel 'randy' about Randi! (My sense of humour might be terrible but most people's lack of it's the real worry).

"Look, Mike isn't very well right now so please stop having a go at him."
Well, with the greatest respect, we are not psychic.

No of course its not, its hearsay. No it isn't. It's eyewitness testimony! You must TRY to stop being so superstitious, Fret! We only have your word for it, bit like your claims about god. Not good enough by a long chalk. Ho v Ha is not superstitious, its factual based on the evidence. If that's superstitious, you're no gypsy.
