The Freedom Party will face an independent in next month's run-off after dumping out the nation's two main parties for the first ever time. Their success follows a campaign that focused on the impact of the migrant crisis, which has seen around 100,000 asylum seekers arrive in Austria since last summer. Norbert Hofer, who ran on an anti-immigrant and anti-Europe platform, won 36.4 per cent of the vote to become head of state. He will face Alexander van der Bellen, a former Green Party figurehead, who won 20.4 per cent, according to official preliminary results. I love the way any one who is against the mass influxes of immigration and the EU is deemed far right...whether they are protesting or voting....but this demonization isn't working any more..i mean who cares what labels are attached..when there are very important issues at stake...and when what the people want is dismissed by those who at the moment rule the roost its rather like UKIP and Nigel Farrage being made out to be far right here in the UK... if our politos did the job they are paid to do..there would be no talk of far right it is the politions them selves who have created this situation and the real far right will be watching with glee.....
