www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/economics/11732926/Crippled-Greece-yields-to-overwhelming-power-as-deal-looms.htmlGreece's Left-wing Syriza government has agreed to draconian austerity terms rejected by the Greek people in a landslide referendum just five days ago, capping one of the most bizarre political episodes of modern times. The surrender was confirmed by the Greek parliament by 251 votes to 32, with eight abstentions including several senior members of the ruling Syriza party. Prime minister Alexis Tspiras sought to put the best face on a painful climbdown, recoiling from a traumatic fight that would have led to Greece's ejection from the euro as soon as Monday. He implicitly recognised that the strain of capital controls and economic collapse has been too much to bear. “We are confronted with crucial decisions. We got a mandate to bring a better deal than the ultimatum that the Eurogroup gave us, but we weren't given a mandate to take Greece out of the eurozone,” he said

is any one surprised that all sides have capitulated.... the greeks voted against austerity but wanted to stay in the Euro zone and the EU Europe was desperate to keep the Greeks in the Eurozone and the EU at what ever cost to the Greek people
all the posturing of the last couple of years was simply a case of who blinks first...but the lessons are clear the Eurozone will go to any lengths to stop countries leaving the facist political union ..they will see civil disorder starvation and the supremacy of banks over elected officials in order to get their way Greece though has shown the world the true face of the EU....and its not a good face....and there could well be an other stand off down the line...the problem is far from solved it isn't over yet....how will the greek people having voted against austerity feel when they realise they are getting it like it or not..will they vote next time to leave the Eu and the euro...who knows but one thing is very clear...the Greeks have refreshed their memories of German behaviour and obviously have neither forgotton or forgiven

"They’ve elected a bunch of lunatics.” Ryanair is currently in talks with the Greek government about carrying passengers free of charge on Greek domestic flights for the next two weeks, as people are currently unable to use credit cards to book flights, thanks to the ongoing financial crisis affecting the country. Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary said that he thinks the situation is “a tragedy”, but has called the Greek government “lunatics.” He added that he hopes the country will get away from austerity soon. “We’re one of the largest investors in Greece at the moment, we’re one of the few European companies that’s actually growing strongly in Greece,” he said. “The difficulty we have in Greece, particularly on domestic flights, is that people don’t have credit cards, they’re not able to make payments. “I mean, we’re actually talking to the Greek government today about carrying people for free for the next two weeks on some of the domestic routes. “The Greek situation is a tragedy, but, you know, the difficulty for the Greeks is that they’ve elected a bunch of lunatics.” O’ Leary told Newstalk’s The Right Hook: “There is a fundamental problem in Greece that 52 per cent of households in Greece depend on pensions as their main source of income but only 11 per cent of Greek people pay tax.’ “Now that’s a circle you’re never going to close, more Greeks have to pay tax, you have to close off the black market and less Greeks have to be able to live off pensions….You can’t have an economy that functions that way,” he added. “More people have to be productive, yes elderly people and young people need help. If you are of a working age, go out and work…You can’t be bloody retiring, sitting in a cafe drinking coffee and expecting the Germans or the Irish or the Portuguese to pay for you,” www.breitbart.com/london/2015/07/09/ryanair-boss-greece-has-elected-a-bunch-of-lunatics/
