Well , we got as far as the Great Bitter Lakes & have been anchored here for 6 hours now, waiting for the southbound convoy to pass. There's ships everywhere; tankers, gas carriers, bulk carriers, many container ships & a couple of US battlewagons. The latter have the Egyptians very nervous . Have taken some pics & will try & post them sometime, but it might have to wait until our 'net connection is sorted out.

Not a good 'un here - having been on duty all day, the Canal Authorities at Suez have decided to take us through 6 hours earlier than planned, so I'll be in the Engine Room now until we are clear at Port Said, some 15 hours from now if we have no delays during transit. Going to be mainlining on coffee, but on the bright side, I will arrange some bacon & egg sandwiches at breakfast time smiley 1 Sounds like a long haul. When does sleep come into the picture? Sleep is for wimps! But seriously, have managed a couple of hours this morning once we anchored. The joys of the Marlboro Canal!

If you can't take a joke, you shouldn't have joined! Just get the old man to feed the pilots 200 fags in the time-honoured tradition. Quite so . Have some verry hacked off boatmen, as everything is well secured & nobody wants to buy their overpriced tat - sorry, 'souveniers'... As for passing out the fags, that goes without saying. It's funy how all the authorities are 'the senior man in their role' - they still only get 200 cigs each . And, of course, no bottles to pass out...

Just passing through Port Said harbour now. No mistaking the stink... About an hour to clear water - lots of ships outside waiting for the southbound convoy.

I do hope so..daughters off for two weeks and we are driving down to the Devon on the second of the two..to meet up with son 1..girl friend and her mother from Saturday next and little Em is coming with us...to have lovely weather would be the icing on the cake so to speak apart from weekends away I don't think son1 has had a holiday in the UK for years and years and the last time he and I were on holiday together he was about 14-16 a life time ago

Gray cloud cover and spotty sunlight, here. Very warm. A lazy day. I baked peach cobblers this morning and delivered 3 of them this afternoon.
