I don't think this is CCR - think it's just John - but it's great .. No matter.

I like these 2. Would Harry Belafonte music be folk?

An interesting question, Jessie. Some of it certainly would be and calypso (the category into which most of Belafonte's songs fall) is almost a transitional style in which folk is evolving slowly in the direction of reggae.

Thank you, Mike, for the reply and opinion. That may be true. There is an old song of his I haven't heard for years about 2 brothers, one a farmer, one a sailor. The name of the song and the sailor brother's boat was Bally Mana. If it could be found, I'd love to hear it.

Jessiealan, I know that song. My parents liked Belafonte and the Calypso albums were my play songs and lullabies from childhood. I'll have a look, but have never been able to find the more obscure album tracks, so don't get your hopes up. It's a pleasure to try, though.

Love CCR and have always loved Simon and Garfunkel.
Belafonte annoyed me once he started wading into politics. Then I thought he was an idiot.

Belafonte has been political since ... many many years ago .. nothing recent about it. Means nothing to me .. I just like his voice and his music. JessieAlan!!! I FOUND it! Some wonderful person has put up all of one of the calypso albums and this is, indeed, one of the songs I went to sleep to as a tyke. Enjoy!

I appreciate you posting these, Jencin. Thank you very much. I believe they must count as folk music. What a nice surprise.

Glad you like them. We may be the only people here who do, but even one is enough to put them up. Another one I like is Island In The Sun, but there's some kind of copywrite problem that kept me from being able to get it.

Thanks, Mike. His voice isn't what it used to be, but it's such a nice song I'm glad to get it. I also love Skin to Skin, but think that is a pop ballad - not a folk song. Here's just one more.
