In case anyone is interested in this information - Rolling Stone is getting ready to limit access to its online site to subscribers only. I think rates are going to be just about $30./yr., which is not too terrible since that includes archives of every issue since 1967. A LOT of material there. But wait! There's more! If you subscribe to the site, RS will include a years subscription delivered to your door, but if you subscribe to the print version you do not get automatic access to the web site. To me, that sounded a little too good to be true, until I looked at it from another perspective. For the past few years, print copy subscribers have gotten site access free AND non-subscribers of the hands-on issue have also gotten the use of www.rollingstone.com free. NOW, the whole marketing move begins to make sense. Bottom line - they want to encourage a big subscription increase. I think I'll take them up on it.

Well that's too bad. I love the articles I get from them when I google certain topics.
Oh well, guess they have to watch the bottom line just like anyone else.
