Hi all. Just popped in to say that the trip home was fine. We seamen have always said that the best view of your ship is from the rear window of the taxi... ...PAH!! I now have a better one! 10,000 feet below - seen from the window of the homeward bound flight!!! Off to Turkey for a week today - temperatures likely to rival those I see Chef is enjoying at present MOTM - some great candidates there; I have cast my vote too; a very dificult choice to make, I can tell you. Hearty congrats to all involved with the latest "Loom" too. Catch you all soon Cheers Mark

today and tomorrow.....108°F and Wednesday 114°F!!!!!! You know the drill - Stay Inside! When the temps are that high, the air quality is generally pretty awful, too.

Speaking of weather (and how could we not ), we are in for a major storm. An eye to the sky tells me this will be coming in about an hour ... maybe a little less. The scary part is that we just had a Duke Energy failure that lasted appx 3 minutes. No warning, just zap ... the computers went down, the AC too. IF they can't keep the power on when there's no weather except heat to contend with ... what's going to happen when the boomers start and the storm hits? brrrrrrrrrr We can only imagine!

We had one medium-sized storm earlier. Thunder is still rumbling around so there will probably be another if wind doesn't pick up and blow it away in another direction. The Reds played San Francisco here tonight ... well, actually, they're still playing and have had a rain delay for over an hour. I guess that means they're having a downpour across the river. We're ahead at this point but I don't know what happens if they can't get back into the game tonight.

Furthermore ... here's the baseball game story.
At the time they had to clear the field because the rain was too heavy to continue, the score was Reds 8 - Giants 1 and they had played a full 6 innings. After a good long wait, the rain persisted and there was standing water on the field (torrential downpour), so the powers that be called the game for weather reasons and the 8 - 1 score became official. No replay.
I still hear thunder rumbles. Hope we don't wash away!
