One thing's sure. They were much loved. This is one of my favorite performance clips. Just excellent.

Thanks for trying to embed that video, Gabe. But at least it will still take you to the link on youtube. I just really like that video of him. He was such a showman. I often wonder if he was in his prime today, if he would have been more out than he was back then. With the internet and the paparazzi the way they are, he couldn't possibly have kept very private like he did back then. Yes, everyone heard he was gay, but there was a distance back then because we didn't have instant information like we do now. You know it's funny. I had such a crush on Freddie Mercury as a kid. I was too young to know or understand the gay rumors. But, still to this day, I get a little mushy inside watching him perform in these videos.

It is a different era now and I doubt it would cause any fuss. I thought at the end when he was being snapped coming out of the clinic where he was getting 'treatment' that the paps were over the top. He looked, well like he was dying. And he was. They could have given him some dignity. I think he was a terrific singer and I think Queen rocked. Big time. Enjoy Fred at his best.

They could have given him some dignity. I think he was a terrific singer and I think Queen rocked. Big time. I remember that. They hounded the poor man until he finally felt forced into announcing he was sick. And he was gone within 24 hours after that. In all actuality, he was a private man. What he did in his personal romantic relationships wasn't for public consumption. I also remember some people saying he should have used his condition to shed light or attention to the devastation that AIDS was causing. But he was a showman and an entertainer, not a spokesman. Leave the poor man alone. (And I see his partner, Jim Hutton, passed away recently; January 2010.)

This is embedded disabled (shakes fist at EMI) but take the trip. It's worth it. Good song and a really great B&W video.

This is great. Outtakes from the recording session. Freddie on lead vocal, no harmony.
