Another favorite of mine from Douglas Adams: Arthur hoped and prayed that there wasn't an afterlife. Then he realized there was a contradiction there and merely hoped that there wasn't an afterlife. Arthur musta been a bad dude How about this one from Mark Twain: "Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company.”

Arthur musta been a bad dude How about this one from Mark Twain: "Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company.” MT either had a bad posse or paid attention during history class. I suspect a lot of preaching and wailing is based on the deep-felt need to have loved ones in close proximity in the afterlife.
