12 January we went to Derbyshire - saw Poole's Cavern, Arbor Low, Bolsover Castle, and took a quick walk in the Pennine Mountains to see the nine ladies stone circle. Unfortunately I got pretty sick as the day went on, and ended up shivering the whole way home while my wife drove, then took the next two days off work...wasn't a very good ending to what would have otherwise been a pretty good trip. The pictures in Poole's Cavern didn't turn out very well, but here is one of Arbor Low and the Pennine Mts/9 Ladies stone circle:

The weekend of 18 February was Lancashire - great county! I'll try to get some pictures of it up tomorrow as it's getting late here. Saw some Beatles sights, the Albert Docks (Liverpool), Lancaster Castle, Blackpool Tower, etc. I'd put it in the top 5 counties so far

These are, once again, wonderful photos, ratchets.
Have you considered creating a photo journal for publication? I'll bet one of the publishing houses would snatch it up.

I hadn't thought about it to be honest...and I'm probably not motivated enough to ever get it done anyway LoL . A lot of the fun is in the adventure behind it to.

The tour guide went into that about the Duke of Lancaster - it was interestign to find out QEII had more income as the Duke of Lancaster than the Queen. I think the numbers were 13M vs 8M.
It was a great view! Inside we had to do a tour (I think due to it still being used), and couldn't go in all areas...the upside was that the tour guide was really good. Informative but also entertaining.

did the guide tell you about the pendle whitches who were imprisoned there [pendle hill isnt far from lancaster] He told us a bit about it, but also explained that it was a pretty complicated story with politics involved too - I don't remember the specifics, but a local lord or somethign was trying to win the favor of the king, and some shenanigans involved with the courtroom if I remember right.

Went to Shropshire on March 16th, it was a great county as everything was close together...got to see a lot more sights than some of the other counties. Think I liked Stokesay Castle, Attingham House, and Benthall Hall the best. Attingham: Benthall Hall: Stokesay Castle:
