If people are going to live that long, how can enough food be produced to feed them. More of the land will have to be concreted over for housing which means less land to grow food. The planet wouldn't be able to cope. There's more births than deaths: www.worldometers.info/world-population/

Take it from a personal, philosophical point of view. Would YOU want to live forever if you had that choice?
If we remained after our family and friends had gone. Then, after acquiring new family and friends, we outlived them as well, I'd think it would be pretty depressing.
Remember, not only bodies age .. minds age, too. Not everyone adapts all the well to change.

I think the plan is to build high in the sky, and actually consume less land for humans. Sounds horrible to me..

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but.... there is no god and there is no afterlife, just a party for the worms.
True immortality does exist, but not everyone gets it, in fact few get it.
True immortality is living on in the memories of future generations.
People like Hippocrates, Pontius Pilate, Alexander the Great or Pythagoras. If we remember them, they are immortal.

Immortal, but not here to enjoy it.
Where's the fun in that?

Well, I had 5 kids, and they have kids, so I guess I am immortal genetically as long as they continue reproducing forever.. LOL!! I'm not 100% positive about an afterlife, but I live as if there is one. I'd rather be right about this and prepare for it than be wrong and find out too late that I should have been a better person. MOST people that believe in an afterlife do not harm to others, so it is really not anyone's business. People that kill in the name of their God.. well, that is a whole different story that needs to be dealt with in real life on the spot..

I think the plan is to build high in the sky, and actually consume less land for humans. Sounds horrible to me.. Already tried in the 60s over this side, generally by socialist-run local councils. High-rise flats, they were called. Fortunately, most of them are now either riddled with 'concrete cancer' or are full of asbestos, so are being demolished. Mind you, if they are full of asbestos, demolition is literally piece by piece; there's a notorious one on Tyneside, nicknamed the 'Dunston Rocket' because of its shape. They've been over 12 months bringing it down already, & it's only about half way down

So, do you think all those believers (various religions) are sincere because (deep down) they are avid for immortality or is it something more than that?
After all, there's no way to know. None of the little water beetles ever come back to tell (unless there's a secret movement afoot by the chosen to keep the information to themselves).
That's the part of the equation known as "faith".
How many people wonder just a little bit while they're claiming faith.
I was "saved" when I was eight. I'm not sure, but I suspect my first reaction was a nice feeling of acceptance and belonging. Next, probably relief that I had managed to get that pesky "death" issue sorted out.

For me it is about wanting to be with my Mom again, and my kids someday. I can't bear the thought of leaving my kids. If it is real GREAT. If it is not, there is no harm in taking comfort in the idea as long as no one else is bothered by your beliefs, right... My faith is shaky, not because I think there can't be a God because of all the terrible things that happen, or that I feel science has disproved God, but more likely because I have not always done the right things, and probably have some fear I may not be worthy enough, so it is easier for me to not believe than to believe. But I want to believe, so there is some conflict there. Nothing I lose sleep over, though.. Actually I never before thought those thoughts that just came out of my head and through my fingertips to this board.. hmmm, something to ponder, I suppose..
That makes no sense, but I know what I mean..
LOL!!

What a nice thought that we would one day be with our dead relatives again! After my mum died, I missed her so much that I went to one of those mediums. She was an old lady and lived in a mobile home. She said that we saw my mum with a little boy.
Well my mum had a baby boy (before me and my brother) and the baby died after birth.
No harm in wishing and hoping..... we'll never know in our lifetime.
