I think it is impossible for me to relate to hard rock or metal but I do recognize a good musician. You are very talented, fretslider. If your music is a hobby, you should be glad and enjoy it. If it is your career, I wish you every success.

Here's where we can comment on the videos and add a little discussion if we want. I'm going to move my post, in response to other comments, off the video thread to keep is for just the music. ____________ Fret is very good with his strat ... excellent in fact. I grew up in a musical family and have been around musicians most of my life. Take my word . Very few people like all types of music. I dislike country music to the point I can hardly stand to listen to it. However, I am certainly aware there are good .. even great ... musicians who perform in than genre. I'm just not the one to write a review because I can't really relate to what they do. Rock music in the 21st century is a product of influences over the past 60 years ... even more when you add in earlier blues, jazz, even classical ... that sequed into the original sounds of rock. I love it and think it has a lot of merit, but, obviously, I can't insist everyone else share my opinions ... and wouldn't try.

I've always had a problem with blowing my own trumpet. Beth, you originally persuaded me to post something and I'd like to dedicate the thread to you.

I came across an old demo I did in 77 when I was sorting through a load of cassette tapes. It's not a bad one, even if I say so myself! As soon as I've got it converted I'll upload a track or two to my channel and embed them here.

Sacrifice.
There is no vocal on it, so the video needs a little context....
General's far behind me, no-one ahead Tells you keep marching 'til your dead Politicians argue and it ends in war Nobody remembers what they argued for
Please don't ask me to fight for this land. it would never fight for me. Don't make excuses that you think we'll understand, about fighting to be free Another sacrifice to war Is peace worth fighting for
Scientists inventing brand new toys Drop them on the cities, on the girls and boys Warriors are marching, guards of steel Nothing seems to move them Forgotten how to feel
Please don't ask me to fight for this land. it would never fight for me. Don't make excuses that you think we'll understand, about fighting to be free Another sacrifice to war Is peace worth fighting for
The world was very different place when that was penned.

I found this pic the other day. Taken in 77 when I was 19. Yes, the amp is a Marshall Plexi (fab). It was stolen a year later. I really miss that amp.
