They were guaranteed the option to return to independence but the reality was like all English guarantees, when they chose to retain their own independent monarchy in 1707, 1715 and 1745, the English slaughtered them. In any event, what precisely ARE these "hopes?" Indefinite Tory government in England? The complete destruction of the National Health Service? Record levels of unemployment? Rather than seeking to break up the United Kingdom, it would be far more productive for us to withdraw from the appalling European Union. that is obviously true. unfortunately though, you have to get rid of the abjectly stupid nutjobs that put you in it, and keep you there, and replace them with real people who will take you out. it is really unfortunate because, while a lot of you whine and cry about it, you won't vote for those who would do it |

Just vote Ukip and leave. You have the right and the power, why don't you do it instead of complaining. I made my decision 36 years ago and have never regretted it.

The UK has not been in the European Union for generations. People keep calling for independance but no-one does anything. I am happy with one currency and, normally, open frontiers.
