My Dad feels the same way, Men an tol. His main phone is the house phone. He wouldn't fool with the cell at all except it eases Mom's mind in case he locks himself out of his car or forgets the grocery list. He's no more forgetful than anybody else, but he takes no chances.
Overall though he was happier with no cell phones and pay phones for using to keep in touch.
He can remember when pay phones went from a dime to a quarter a call. Big inconvenience.

My kids picked out my Halloween avatar this year. Pretty spiffy. I'd have picked something more scary. Halloween decorations are going up all over.

Today I was attempting to make a call on my cell phone and found that it was dead. I had only charged it up that morning and I thought, “Great, another thing that is broke.” Then I discovered something, “I had shut it off,” I tell you that the so called golden years, exist only because as one gets old, you increasingly live in a world of not knowing what is going on. Most importantly you increasingly don’t care. On top of that, we had our first snow flurries this evening. I think I'll go set with my dog. Take heart, Men. Either that or start browsing second homes in the south. About the phone, my daughter in her early 20s calls me fairly often but there's either a deadline or background noise when I answer. Apparently she accidentally sits on her phone in the car or loses it in the depth of her purse. We call the former a "butt call". It's just part of the times we live in.

beautiful sunshine and a clear blue sky Same here with temperatures into the low 60s F this afternoon but back down close to freezing tonight. Deep blue skies and gold and red leaves. Great time of the year except for the cold nights.

Great time of the year except for the cold nights. They will all need jackets to trick or treat this halloween, except perhaps the fellow who always dresses as a Gorilla.

Pretty nippy outthis evening. Had to go grocery shopping and those who weren't wearing jackets were going ... brrrrrrrrrr.
There's supposed to be no let up to the chilly temps over the weekend.

It has been much nicer today (Friday). Two important football games this weekend so we all hope the nice weather stays. Blue and gold, with a little green left here and there.

another glorious morning brilliant blue sky and very bright sunshine... again after a cold cold night daughters already left to meet up with friends .. they are off to a artisan craft fair.every thing from food to clothes...traditional iron work to great tree carvings so a, looking forwards to a choice of hand made cheeses.. chutneys and possibly home made cheese biscuits... yummy and I have asked her to get me some new sheepskin gloves..and any thing else she sees that I might just fancy I would have gone with her but she has a bit of a bad back so don't want her lifting my mobility scooter in and out of the car as its rather heavey
