the fox has visited the chucks and they are no more..including the cockerel who used to wake me up in the early hours...daughter saw him fox walking across the road the other evening..i hope the owners of the lat chucks..replaces them off for afternoon tea this afternoon...a local hospice puts these teas on and raises monies via them Hi Mouse, Don't the chooks have a secure place to roost at night time. What a shame that they should have been terrorised, and killed. yes the chickens had a very secure hen house...but the fox is the terrorist of the animal world he kills for fun as much as he kills for food...and will find the tiniest of opportunitities to kill..the fox is not some fluffy story book animal...

morning who....go to school and enjoy it
the weather is simply atrocious...the ground is oozing water windy and cold...the wind isn't gusting as badly as yesterday but still strong and unpleasant I went out to rescue a garden chair and a plant pot which the wind had whizzed down the garden yesterday...I didn't bother to upright the various pots containing trees which have been blown over..they can stay were they are until the weather improved at least at floor level they wont be blown over again

If I wanted to go back to the past it would be merely to be young again and not for the lack of present day conveniences.
If I did not know anything about a computer I would not miss it, obviously. But, I do and believe it is a huge advantage, not only for meeting new people but for staying in daily touch with my friends and relatives who live some distance away. My sister in law sends weekly newsletters in email that keep all of us close. What is more, shopping on line is a great time saver, especially in the winter.

Whether as individuals we appreciate computer/internet enhanced communication or not, it is here and barring a major solar flare it is here to stay.
Even though some of we old fogies wax nostalgic for old ways or not, there are many gains from the the computer. Just consider the 3D printer. Just recently 2 people used that technology to make a prosthetic hand for a small boy who was born without the hand. People and information (of our choosing) are only a touch away to nearly all people.
Of course how we use these capabilities is a different matter, we are all aware of that. Today these capabilities are little more than expansions (often amazing expansions) of what has gone before, but it will be the children of our youngest children who will define the future in new, fathomless ways. At their finger tips are the opportunities to leave behind the old ways and develop new solutions. They face the possibility of an exciting future.
