Went back to see bird show again and it was great...66 and hot so was lad to get home. I love looking at the cattle....hard to believe the weight of some of them...1300+ pounds Now that i see how huge herefords were, I wondered if mom ever worried about us getting in their pasture area by the barn. Chefmate what type of show was this? just a local fair in town for four days.

Your time there is not well spent unless when you go home you are carrying the smell of horses and cows. One opportunity for this is in most counties and that is the 4H Fairs. There you can wander among the stalls and talk to the kids and reach out and touch the animals they brought. There is also an added benefit for those with a light cold as the ammonia can clear the nostrils in quick time.

Buckinghm palace is in the same state as Westminster..in dire need of repairs well they could either live just in one part of it or move for the duration to Windsor parliament is a different matter in regard to Westminster its suggested parliament be re-located while wotk is indertaken...so far Manchester and Birmingham seem to be front runners....can you imagine the angst of the MPsbeing taken away from the flesh pots and expences of London and dumped in either the land of the Brum or the land of the Manc That makes good sense. There is no reason they should stay there in the way. Very rainy weekend and we are supposed to be struck with another storm tonight;

Mouse, with all the moisture you've had this summer so far, you're going to have a beautiful fall. The past week has been wet but not cold here, until today. Now it's very chilly ... almost autumn like. A cs, off, summer quilts on the beds in doubles. We'll be having the mid-summer Member of the Month to coincide with the 4th of July this year. I always think of that as the series of incidents that left us 2 great countries for the betterment of the whole world. Here at the Gates, we have our chances to look each way in turn to see how true that can be. I'll set up the Mid-Sunner poll after the weekend ends so watch for it. I'm still doing poorly with little appitite but my family decided oatmeal was just the thing on this chilly morning. In all honesty, I have to be in fine shape with a top of form appitite to enjoy oatmeal. Now, I think it's time to zip the mouth and depend on cold drinks for the rest of the day!!! Have a good rest-of-the-weekend. See you with MofM nominations tomorrow or Tuesday. Beth [/font]

I had a bacterial sinus infection and spent 2 weeks sleeping in a chair. Now as I am getting to the point being past the walking dead, my wife has come down with a regular cold and, the dog has tonsillitis. Even so things got accomplished. We (my Veteran group the 40 et 8) had services for one of our older members (87 years old) who was also one of the most valued (active) members of the community and a great role model for youth. Out Veteran Group is running at doing such rites about once a year and we anticipate that rate to increase as our World War II members age. Of course at grave side we had active military there to do the flag presentation. Speaking with their officer he told me that they are doing over 1600 per year. In a short time the last of our World War II Veterans will be gone.

All the animals belonged to FFA or 4-H members and I did talk to some of the kids.......I only hope they understand how blessed they are to be able to raise and show animals.
