She is in Australia, Tempus. It is still very cold here. Hoping for better tomorrow. I know. My point was that, in the UK, we wouldn't consider 26°C to be "cooler." We'd be having hosepipe bans and sensationalist tabloid headlines about "drought" and "heatwave" and "unprecedented period of fantastic summer weather" despite it hammering it down next day and for the rest of the week.

I'm going through youtube and come across someone named Alex Jones who claims the title Groom of the Stool is still in use and people are employed to wipe the royal butts?? I'm not buying into this but could it be true or is this guy a certified tin foil hat?

I'm not buying into this but could it be true or is this guy a certified tin foil hat? The Groom of the Stool (formally styled: "Groom of the King's Close Stool") was the most intimate of an English monarch's courtiers, whose physical intimacy naturally led to him becoming a man in whom much confidence was placed by his royal master and with whom many royal secrets were shared as a matter of course. This secret information he was privy to—whilst it would never have been revealed, to the discredit of his honour—in turn led to him becoming feared and respected and therefore powerful within the royal court in his own right. The office developed gradually over decades and centuries into one of administration of the royal finances, and under Henry VII, the Groom of the Stool became a powerful official involved in setting national fiscal policy, under the "Chamber System".[1][2] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groom_of_the_StoolWhat a smelly job!

P.S. In 1558, the male domination of royal private quarters came to an end, and Kat Ashley was appointed First Lady of the Bedchamber by Elizabeth I of England, a position that put her "in charge of the bedchamber," a duty formerly performed by the Groom of the Stool.[11] The office effectively came to an end when it was "neutralized" in 1559.[12]

Yes, Jones is a tin foil hat guy except sometimes he gets it right. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groom_of_the_Stool

Mouse, I saw a robin yesterday. A robin in Ohio on the heels of the coldest temperatures we have had in years. I hope he is making his escape south while this milder weather holds. He must have had a nice sheltered nest to hold up in. Several of my neighbors keep feeders, as well as myself, so I suppose he was filling up for his journey.

10-35 fan bloodytastic..the boiler isn't working...errrrghghghghghgghghghg that's all we need as the weather gets colder...I know we have the multifuel but being without hot water and heat in the bathroom just isn't funny....have sent daughter a message to get new batteries to the heat control unit in the hope its nothing more than the control not speaking /sending signals to the boiler down to the batteries dying ..... and would you believe the boiler is just out of its 5yr warrenty.....sods law or what
good news is have just seen one lone chaffinch and one lone bull finch in the garden feeding from the pea nuts...
new batteries installed and boiler still iffy but at least working...so we have heat and water...but think I shall have some one come take a look after the weekend..if it still seems not quite right trouble is with these complicated things[and this boiler does every thing but dance and play the bagpipes] you get one thing right and some thing else becomes dodgy

Thanks Joy. It's been a pretty good day - Saturday and mild. Did my marketing this afternoon but not much outside time because it's rainy.
