Gawd-fuck the Queen Well, it could have been put a little more delicately, but yes they are no different from the scroungers at the lower levels, they have a better PR team. Its time she and her brood took their leave. Mrs Windsor has two birthdays. That's an 'official' birthday, and her, er, birthday. The truth is that this country resembles a mediaeval heritage museum, politically. When I say [we have to tear it all up and start again..... A (written) constitution, wholly elected bi-cameral parliaments for each nation - England, where is your parliament? - and and a federal body for the islands as a whole. Fixed terms for institutions and office, recall, petition/referendum, and an elected HoS who can do something when parliament goes off the rails - as it clearly has done.] Posters on most boards proclaim their total allegiance to an anachronism and argue against the democratic alternative. Extraordinary. The Queen they say has the power to act, and she does, but as an unelected figurehead she dare not move, it would be the Crown against the State all over again. Next up, Charles the Half-Wit. Now, how did he get to be next? He just happened to tumble out of the right womb. Will this Charles lose his head? Why doesn't Lizzie stand aside for him??? It's mediaeval, and the snouts in the trough at parliament like it that way. Only the Court of public opinion keeps them in check. People here go along with it, democracy it ain't So do us all a favour, Lizzie love, give it up.

If she lives as long as her mother, you are all in for a minimum of sixteen years and I don't believe she will give up the throne until she dies or is physically unable to do so as it was drummed into her duty before family; she remembers the debacle when her uncle renounced the throne and won't put the country through that.
I for the most part, like the royal family but not the antics of the last thirty years.......they messed up when they pulled the veil aside and let people realize they are as fallable as we are and in many cases, more so.
But long live the Queen and a lifestyle that is of the past and no longer the future.

I'm a proud monarchist and would be quite happy for Charles and Camilla to be our king and queen.
(The trouble is, my politics defy description or classification!)
I'm left-wing in some ways, middle of the road on others, and right-wing on others.
I DO believe that a Presidential system would be WORSE and I DO believe that the royals are BETTER ambassadors for our country and Charles in particular has done a LOT to help young people.
Three cheers for Her Majesty - hip hip hooray!
(Bet that surprised a few people!)
On a purely factual note of history, George Washington was offered the CROWN of America and he refused it. If he hadn't then the US would have had a Washington-dynasty monarchy for the last two hundred plus years!
(Opportunity missed, IMHO!)

I really really don't understand the royals fascination for Hats. Some of them are ok.....some of them are just the freakiest things I have ever seen.
Course.....I'm just really not a hat person.

Oh dear, they also seem to defy rational explanation. Why does everything have to be rational? What's wrong with a bit of romance, mystery, ceremony, fun? Who does it hurt? Nobody! Who does it give pleasure to? Millions of people! Anyway, it's no more rational to have a President than to have a king or queen. When Bulgaria's economy went down the tube, who did they turn to? The claimant to the throne who became Prime Minister, that's who. There's nothing irrational about being a monarchist and even if there was - so what? You're a very NAUGHTY boy, Fret!

Mmm, I guess women and rational don't often go together, Lin Sure, you can keep them as a ceremonial, but they cannot remain HoS, its had its day and it doesn't work. Its more rational and democratic to vote than to live in hope of getting someone with more brains than Charles. Can I get off the naughty step now?

I'd rather have Charles than Phoney Tony or Dodgy Dave any day, Fret. Yes, you can get out of the corner now. Next time it's a spanking for you! Incidentally, you probably deserve one for your first sentence but that's another matter. I agree with Margaret Thatcher that you boys are LESS rational than us ladies! Out of interest, how do you explain your thesis about the irrational nature of females in terms of the voting patterns that show that: a) more women than men vote Democrat in the US; b) more women than men vote Conservative in the UK; c) more women than men vote Christian Democrat in Germany; d) more women than men vote Gaullist in France? Not only are there quite wide differences between the Tories, the CDU and the Gaullists, but (in terms of America) the Democrats are virtually seen (goodness only knows WHY) as the equivalent of the Labour Party (when in reality they're to the right of Eric Pickles) so what' s your explanation for this gender disparity?

You're off my Christmas card list darn, at least I had one guaranteed card but now......oh well, love the queen and her dysfunctional family nevertheless. I did send her a valentine once and got a thank you on the official palace paper so that was a big deal for me although she didn't personally sign it.

You can have the Half-Wit - the only man who ditched the blonde for a horse I don't particularly want any of the reptiles under the current corrupt system. I thought you'd appreciate a bit of male chauvinism, I'm not that much of a dinosaur really. What I can say, or rather ask about women is: why do their cars seem like handbags on wheels In all honesty I am fortunate enough to know some very intelligent and sassy representatives of the female race. Most women can be bothered, many men cannot.
