Apple pie does sound good, mouse ... especially knowing someone will be there who will appreciate it very very much. We have cool temps but bright sun today. Off to work. Later

Dull, damp, dismal, dreary, and a utter feeling of despondency, today, not the sort of weather that brings any joy. Out on the road you haven to drive with lights on which is ridiculous when it is supposed to broad daylight, it appears that car manufacturers have dispensed with fitting cars with mud flaps, so all cars have to have their windscreen wipers and cleaner going none stop. And to cap it all the ASDA is chock a block with cold and damp disgruntled shoppers, it is easy to see how shop rage and road rage happens, it is enough to test the patience of a Saint. Not venturing out to day till the weather picks up, weather men said the cold weather will be back next week, well, I have news for them, it never left. :Pb

I am sorry you're day is not going well for you, Jack. It is quite cold here as well. March always seems to be a very long month. I am going to bake sweet potato pies today, so at least the house will be warm and smell nice.

realistically, wood is much better. we've used coat hangars, but metal gets hot and radiates much faster than wood you are so right realistically, it don't take all that long to roast a marshmellow. unfortunately, though, by the time you do a third one, the coat hangar will burn, you drop the coat hangar in the fire, and your marshmellow is no good

that's pretty much it, theoretically at least. grass takes less time to cool, so the snow sticks, as opposed to melting on the still warmer surfaces i still have not figured out though, why bridges and overpasses freeze up more often than the rest of the road Probably the same reason the floor feels cold in coach houses (apartments above garages) - there's an unheated void full of cold air beneath. of course, if the house was built properly, it shouldn't do that. you should have r30 insulation in the floor to prevent exactly that

Where is this global warming they keep telling us about, it is not in the UK for a start, I think we are in the start of another ice age, in a few thousand years they will digging human beings out of the ice instead of Mammoths.

I mean, my building has a doorstep and no lift and was built in 2001 so how does that fit in with the change to building regs to make all new-builds accessible? Oh, hang on - it was because we had a government that was "white than white" and didn't take backhanders party donations if they could make the local planning committee look the other way...
