There's a fair bit in common with Klesma, but I guess that all comes from centuries of East European and Turkish influence.
Imagine, if the USA had not had black slaves, and instead had developed Jazz and all its derivatives into modern rock from what went into Gypsy and Klesma music!

hello - this looks interesting. been trying to find a particular piece by Django Reinhardt who of course was a Romani . it is a collaboration with Stephan Grappelli and i cannot for the life of me remember what it's called - so frustrating. Imagine, if the USA had not had black slaves, and instead had developed Jazz and all its derivatives into modern rock from what went into Gypsy and Klesma music! NY gypsy punk - Gogol Bordello

NY gypsy punk - Gogol Bordello Shouldn't be too hard to find stuff by Django and Stephan Grappelli though I've found YouTube is often surprisingly ignorant of lots of music. Guess it depends on what people post. I know the two of them performed together a lot and I've heard a lot of their recordings so try googling and see if you get anywhere. Must be out there somewhere! Latsho divvus! (Means 'good day' in Romani)

Sorry. In that case, thanks Pipsqueak! ('Nais tukes' in Romani!)[/quote] yes it was me. my pleasure, how do you say that in Romani, Lin? btw, have you seen how many collaborations between Django Reinhardt Stephane Grappelli there are. i've decided to embarking on a methodical process of elimination - so i guess i'll be back in a year to post it.

Mishto hom me is the Romani equivalent.
I should imagine there are quite a lot of collaborations between Django and Stephan.
