I'm adopted and have latterly met my natural family. I judge it at 50/50.

Yes, my sense of humour is very much my adoptive Dad's. I look a lot like my natural father and probably "feel" like him to be around if that makes any sense. It seems like a straight split to me. My natural Dad is arriving on a visit from Australia tomorrow, always fun.

So, send your adoptive Dad a kiss from me.

Where did the musical ability come from, Brum? Nature or nurture?

Where did the musical ability come from, Brum? Nature or nurture? Not sure where my interest came from I'm related to Django Reinhardt (spelling? I don't know!) naturally but my beloved adoptive Grandad was a choirmaster and taught me a lot. My musical taste comes from my adoptive Dad who couldn't hold a tune in a bucket but he loves Waylon and Hank so I got that from him.

Nurture then - and maybe a drop or two of talent inherited from a couple of generations or so back. My whole family was/is musical. I got the ear and interest, but not the gift. There have been times I'd have wondered if I had another family somewhere except that I look very like my dad.

Nature may influence some people to accept or think for themselves about how they are expected to behave, and that might show them appearing to conform to expectations. Anyway, failure to conform means exclusion, so nobody really dares not even when punks appeared to, but always part of a supportive group.
Nurture builds on nature to make minimal differences into required definitions of behaviour.
