The leaves outside my window are starting to look a lot like the window view in our forum default heading. Very pretty with a little green still hanging around.
Alexa says it's 38 degrees F right now and that's heavy jacket whether. It's encouraging me to stay in today. Maybe start a new book or watch a movie.
At least there's no icy rain or show! Knock on wood.

Looks like we're going to be into it with the chilly weather all week. I've got a couple of window unit air conditioners I need to remove and store in the basement for the time being. Need to get some logs for the fireplace, too. The kids and I went to the Halloween store and picked up a few last minute goodies. My favorite i- the black crow to perch above the front door. Not TOO scary, just right.

We have a beautiful warm and sunny day in the 60s F.
I'm going to a charity event at church this afternoon for the purpose of having a drive to gather warm clothing and coats to give to the poor and homeless. I don't have any to spare this year so my daughter and I are going to pitch in together and get sweaters and scarves some can use under the lighter weight coats. This is always a very good cause.

Good for you, Jessie. My wife is working with a charity that sets up a warm clothing store where everything is $1.00 - through her school. The coats go the fastest so you need to get some kind of proof of income for those. Tell em to save back a few for the homeless and go hand them out on street corners on cold winter days.

do you not have charity shops to which people donate clothes...and are open all the year round... some are better than other depending on the area and the charity.. every charity you can name from life boats to help the aged...Oxfam to a local hospice etc ...some of my friends are avid mootchers of these shops with great bargins and finds are swooped on with joy...two of them make a days outing of it and usually return with at least one good find ..
very dreary as was yesterday which was dispointing as had the sun been shining on our drive to our lunchen venue it would have lit up the colours wonderfully still it was a good outing with good food and good company in the ancient pub[1400s]it still has its original minstrals gallery

There are also many smaller such operations as well as the periodic sales of used goods such as through churches. Of course, there are the many Garage Sales every year where people sell directly from their homes. This is all separate from Second Hand stores.

Good Will does charge for the nicer pieces - good coats and such as that. Not a lot, but street people/the homeless do look forward to the church charity donations and depend on them for help against the cold. I'm sure English and Americans both handle it well.
It's bright sun and blue-blue skies today - typical Ohio River Valley fall. Time to lay in Halloween supplies.

think when it comes to the homeless its largely the churches and specifics who set up clothing and soup kitchens etc and yes quite different than 2nd hand stores,, the charity shops and furniture projects sell just about anything except electrical goods

lovely evening again good food good company but as was inevitable we got on to Brexit.. the groomings.. immigration etc and it was suprising how hardend views have become in such a short time and more importantly the followers of diverse political ideologys now loathe and mistrust polititions regardless of party..and just how harsh the desire to punish those in parliament and the civil service interesting times
it rained most of the night but there is some sunshine inspite of gather clouds

Sounds like a good day to stay in! It's been raining this a.m., here, but looks like the sun is going to peak out. It's 50 degrees F, a little nippy, but not cold.
Just got the news that a friend is going to have to find a new home for their dog. My sister has told them we would take it but I don't feel that will work. Must go negotiate!
