I don't think Spain will win the World Cup. They've just sacked their manager before they've kicked a ball in anger!
My money's on Germany.

I think they'll qualify from their group but that's probably as good as it will get. But it's a young squad with a lot of players (not Ashley Young of course but the others) who are learning and will be much better in the next one. Southgate knows we won't win but he's building for the future.

A thrilling match between Spain and Portugal ended in a 3-3 draw. Ronaldo scored his 51st hat trick for Portugal!
Probably both nations will qualify from their group and certainly at times both teams were brilliant and at others disappointing.

Argentina could only manage a 1-1 draw with Iceland. Croatia beat Nigeria 2-0 and France struggled to beat Australia 2-1.

Mexico beat Germany 1-0 and so far Switzerland are drawing 1-1 with Brazil.
It is nice to see a few shocks.
Hopefully the England-Tunisia game tomorrow will NOT be one of them!

Yes, and England actually managed to win! Although the woeful squandering of chances meant that it took a last-minute winner from Kane to snatch victory from a match that should have been dead and buried in the first half.
Belgium will be much more difficult - the idea of the shaky English defence dealing with the dangerous Belgian midfield and attack does not fill me with confidence. But we should be capable of beating Panama and thus qualifying for the last 16. That would be some degree of progress.

The Belgian side didn't look like it was firing on a cylinders to me until near the end of the game. They have their problems, too. Overall I think Southgate's approach was refreshing - attacking from the kick off and not letting up.

None of the sides have looked outstanding so far. Japan beat Colombia 2-1; Senegal looked highly impressive in beating Poland 2-1; Russia were flattered by their 3-1 win over Egypt because until the first goal it looked as if they had no idea how to win a match.
Could be an interesting and unpredictable tournament!

Spain were appalling against Iran and were incredibly lucky to win. Portugal were so bad in their 1-0 win over Morocco that the Russian crowd were hissing them throughout the game. So far almost every team has looked poor so perhaps England might actually be a surprise package!
