Pablo Picasso was the artist, he was even held for a while but later released. The real thief was an Italian who was caught when he tried to sell the painting some time later.
All this information comes from a Daughter who got her Masters in Kunstgeschiedenis in Ghent Belgium. (Art History)

Hi Jack, It is one of the dialects of Limburg which is in the south of Holland, I lived there for nearly 15 years so I learned the lingo. The Brothers Van Eyck living in Maaseik Limburg, the low lands. The ,'Low lands', in the medieval term to describe what used to be the Netherlands and Belgium, (back in those days Belgium was a part of the Netherlands.)
