Mike Pence booed at "Hamilton" Broadway showNEW YORK -- New Yorkers are famous for letting their feelings known -- a lesson Vice President-elect Mike Pence learned Friday night. At a performance of the Broadway smash Hamilton, Pence was booed (with some cheers mixed in) before the show started. While the cast performed the hip-hop musical about the Founding Fathers, debate raged on the internet about the etiquette behind booing the vice president-elect. But as they say in the theater world -- the show must go on, and it did. According to reports from inside the theater, the audience cheered loudly at the lyrics “Immigrants, we get the job done!” and during the song “What Comes Next,” sung by a character playing King George. The lyrics include the line, “It’s much harder when it’s all your call.” At the end of the show, star Brandon Victor Dixon, the actor who plays Vice President Aaron Burr, read a statement to the vice president-elect, thanking him for attending, but noting “we are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us.” “We truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us,” Dixon concluded. According to New York Times theater critic Patrick Healy, the statement was written by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, who penned it upon hearing that Pence would be attending Friday night’s performance. Healy tweeted that Pence was seen walking out during Dixon’s statement, although Dixon is heard asking the vice president-elect to stay. It’s unclear if the vice president-elect heard the statement. Hamilton tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, the first treasury secretary, who was ultimately shot and killed by Burr, who was the sitting vice president, in a duel. It’s earned rave reviews, won 11 Tony awards and is sold out for years in advance -- President Obama and Vice President Biden have both seen the show. At the performance Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton attended --that also served as a fundraiser -- this summer, she addressed the audience afterward, telling them that she is “not giving away my shot.” Miranda was a high-profile supporter of Clinton, and, prior to the election, used the lyrics “never gonna be president now” to describe President-elect Trump on “Saturday Night Live.” www.cbsnews.com/news/mike-pence-booed-hamilton-broadway-show/

Vice-President elect Mike Pence went to see Hamilton! in NYC, was booed by the crowd when he entered, and the cast had this to say to him at the end of the performance:
Trump has been sending out tweets about how the cast needs to apologize and how Hamilton is overrated.

No, it wasn't rude, Chef. Have you even heard or read the statement? If you have, you're pretty touchy - maybe like Donald Trump. If you haven't, find it and read or listen to is. It was pretty mild. Nothing bad. Pence said he did not take offence. It was just Donald and the MSM blowing it up.

Save the protests for the streets.

Save the protests for the streets. “We, sir — we — are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights,” he said. “We truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us.” I have read all of this little speech. While it may be heartfelt, it is based on misunderstandings of what is going on. It is no more than a political attempt of the deep left to intrude on the lives of others with their distorted view of the world. If I had been in that audience, I would have requested my money back and then tore that money up when they returned it. My point would be that the producers of the play had an implied contract with those who attended. That is, that they (the attendees) were there to view the play and the cast were there to provide the play. Nothing else. If those in the play wanted to make such an announcement they could have set up presentation for that purpose or requested a news media interview. The statement read by Mr. Dixon was written by the show’s creator LinManuel Miranda; its director, Thomas Kail and the lead producer Jeffrey Seller with input from the cast. Subsequently Mr. Seller stated, “We had to ask ourselves, how do we cope with this? Our cast could barely go on stage the day after the election. The election was painful and crushing to all of us here. We struggled with what was the appropriate and respectful and proper response. We are honored that Mr. Pence attended the show, and we used this opportunity to express our feelings.” This just continues to demonstrate that there are those who do not believe in a peaceful transfer of power, nor do they believe in the United States or its Constitution. This was not just their acting out their right to protest or petition, but rather was created for the best way to empower their own self promotion.

Welcome to NYC and we believe that Trump is a fraud and a huckster. We'll fight like mad, and nobody is going to give him an inch. The play is brilliant, by the way. (I saw it twice.) Enjoy ripping up your 2000 bucks.

Yes, you have defined yourself quite clearly.

It read to me like it was done with good will.

Randy do YOU actually know what's going on with the incoming administration? If you do, it's a better guess than mainstream media is managing, either that or you have a direct line to inside information. It sounds like you're over reacting to this.
