I see you have widened the boundries and no infer the treatment WOULD BE AFTER they have served their time..with which I would have absolutely no problem..so why didn't you say that in the begining
""""Now I presume you realise that the majority of criminals will be released.
Which is more sensible - to give them medical treatment so that they do not re-offend and are cured of their illness or to lock them up, release them with no treatment and see them commit crimes again?""""
I would have absolutely no problem with them being given mandatory education either as part and parcel of their sentence... and release

We're all responsible for what we do and don't do. That's why we teach our kids to apologize when they are young.

We're all responsible for what we do and don't do. That's why we teach our kids to apologize when they are young. exactly parenting....plays quite a part....even though each individual is ultimately responsible....but if parents have neglected their duty of care....especially in the case of young offenders.. I would like to see parents being held to account in many instances where the parents are culpable via their actions the two boys in the Bulger case is an example where parents should have been accountable..one boy routinely sexualy abused by older brothers the other watch porn with his father..and other things or the two brothers given drugs by their parents..porn was an every day happening... subjected to all manner of abuse etc etc is it any wonder why these children on the receiving end then go out and murder ???steal etc etc it doesn't excuse their actions but it certainly explains why they would see violence and sex as nothing out of the ordinary..because it was their every day reality
