I think you misunderstand me Anna I don't find him a figure of pity in any way shape or form..poor or sad what I am trying to get across[badly] is that by labling these people with certain terms we to some extent let them off the hook by these lables of monster..sociopath..madman....mentally unbalanced etc which imply they are NOT wholly RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS... WHERAS THE REALITY IS THEY are WHOLLY responsible because they have free will....they know the difference between right and wrong.... .the fact is they are deliberate killers..vicious evil twisted and warped
to take a look at them and their lives is not condoning but it certainly gives the WHY..AND KNOWING THE WHY doesn't excuse the person or those involved in his/her life.... but it indicates what sort ofd things to look for in others of similar ilk and eventually one can only hope that enough signs are known about so these potential killers can be taken out of the wider community and removed to where they can do no more damage

a very interesting article..... Inside the world of the woman haters: The terrifyingly misogynistic websites that fuelled the rage of the virgin killer - and how their poison's spreading to Britain Vile comments on 'Men's Rights' forums include 'women lust for rapists' Distorted websites used by Elliot Rodger, 22, before shooting rampage Young men consider themselves entitled to sex with whoever they choose Twisted: California shooter Eliott Rodger visited 'Men's Rights' forums on the internet They’re juvenile, short-sighted and generally retarded. Females are literally subhuman.’ ‘I don’t know if you notice it too, but the more you insult/downgrade a women, the more she likes you.’ ‘All women actually want is you to f*** the s*** out of them.’ ‘Women have always felt lust for rapists. It’s a fact that is easy to back up.’ ‘Is it possible to rape a girl in a respectful way?’ These are just some of the shockingly vile statements I’ve seen online this week, as I delved into the world of so-called Men’s Rights forums, where young male users come from Britain, America and across the world. Here, the diatribes range from the merely anti-feminist to the proudly woman-hating. And it’s on websites like these where British-born student Elliot Rodger sought solace before he murdered six people in California last week. The privileged Rodger, who later turned the gun on himself, made no secret of his motivation for his crimes: hatred of women. Shortly before his horrific killing spree, the self- confessed 22-year-old virgin had posted a YouTube video, venting his rage against the women who had rejected him. He also sent a 141-page manifesto to his family and friends, detailing how he intended to go about ‘exacting retribution’ on the women of the world. And it was subsequently discovered that he was an avid user of Men’s Rights forums. Of course, Rodger’s act of carnage sent shockwaves around the world — and understandably reignited the debate about America’s gun culture. But his crime also reveals something equally, if not more important that needs confronting. Namely the horrifyingly aggressive face of modern misogyny, which appears to have taken root among our young men and boys, and the fact the internet not only provides a forum for such deep-seated loathing but increases the likelihood of it spilling over into real life. While Rodger had been reported as seeing ‘multiple therapists’ and refusing anti-psychotic medication for mental illness, his disturbing hatred of women appears to be coming more and more commonplace among young men. Why? Well, there’s no denying that the internet enables otherwise lone ‘haters’ to find approval from each other . and heres another of the same ilk...some thing wrong with these young males who think they have an entitlement to women....they need to be disabused of this wrong thinking''''''''' .................................................................... Teenage stalker sent more than 11,400 messages in just over a month to girl he liked after finding out she didn't fancy him 19 year old's advances were spurned, prompting an avalanche of attention Thousands of 'sexual and very worrying' text and Facebook messages sent Tried to intimidate a witness and texted the victim's friend saying: 'She is mine!' Judge: messages both 'frightening and disgusting' and 'childlike and naive' Kinsey, pictured leaving court, was told by the judge the avalanche of text messages were 'frightening and disgusting' A teenage text stalker sent more than 11,400 unwanted messages to a girl he fancied when he discovered she was not interested in him. When Scott Kinsey, 19, discovered his feelings for Katie Hawkins were not reciprocated he attempted to woo her with 'clearly sexual and worrying' messages at a rate of 300 a day for 38 days. He was so determined that when police became involved and told him to stop he used a third party to short-circuit a ban, sending her friend 44 texts because he knew his victim would see them. Prosecutor Michelle Stuart-Lofthouse said Kinsey and Hawkins met via Facebook in May 2013 and he got her mobile number. 'They began messaging each other,” said Mrs Stuart-Lofthouse. 'Over a period of time, Scott Kinsey wanted to pursue a relationship. Miss Hawkins said she did not and wanted to be friends. 'At that stage his messages became more sexually abusive and threatening. He sent her 7,791 text messages. Between August 4 and September 11 he sent her 3,619 messages via a Facebook application. They are clearly sexual and very worrying.' Kinsey, of Flamborough, appeared in custody at Hull Crown Court for sentence on Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to two charges of harassment. He also admitted two separate charges of attempted witness intimidation and intimidation Read more: www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2642931/Teenage-stalker-sent-300-messages-day-totalling-11-400-girl-trying-win-finding-didnt-fancy-him.html#ixzz33BzDvT2Y Follow us: @mailonline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook

Why the heck didn't they take the time to watch those videos? must have been in a hurry to go harass innocent citizens or maybe make a stop at the donut shop......cops are getting to be entirely useless

No one is arrested here on spec. There has to be probably cause, and there wasn't.

Joseph, don't you think they could have hauled him in for questioning and kept him there a day or so ... just on the basis of his videos, etc.? There IS a law against terroristic threatening and the videos came close to that very thing. IMO

According to reports over here he was visited by Plod when his old dear tipped them off but he managed to convince them to go away without looking under the bed.

in that every one failed..it allowed this young man to kill.....had the police done their job properly he could have been taken of the streets either for as lin says threatening behaviour or he could have been sectioned as being mentally unsound and a danger to himself and others there are always ways to get some one off the streets[your laws are not very different than our own]

He wasn't threatening specific people, so the police had no grounds to arrest him. The assumption is this guy was mentally ill. He wasn't.

the assumption that some one is mentally ill is alwatys an assumption until proven...however the police have a duty to ""police"""and he was threatening specific people ie women the state[any state] has all angles covered when it comes to arrestable offences....the police in this case failed
